What are people saying?
Of the hundreds of educators Remington has worked with, here are a few highlights that will let you know you’re in good company! We’d love to add your experience, too!
Remington’s presentation was impactful because…
“He was an excellent and engaging speaker! I felt it was truly impactful for us as a staff to have exposure to different world view and different lens of culture. I also really appreciated the reflection activity!”
— Teacher
“I realized how narrow my problem solving skills are as it pertains to inclusivity. I was forced to think outside of the box to come up with a solution which was more challenging than I anticipated.”
— School Administrator
“It forced me to take a harder look at the different areas of privilege and exclusion. I didn't like much of what I saw but that doesn't change the fact that it is a reality...one I would like to see change during my lifetime.”
— Teacher
What did you learn about the experience of marginalized people from Remington’s presentation?
“I was also made more aware of the scope of the need for marginalized people to navigate multiple cultures to survive, as opposed to the dominant segment's safety in relying on a single cultural perspective to survive.”
— Therapist
“The discussion about white women voting for Trump was interesting. I did not vote during that election, but if I did I probably would have voted for Trump for many reasons; however, I never thought about the possibility of "voting against" white women by voting for Trump. It just made me think a little bit more.”
— Teacher
“I had never thought about the intersection between whiteness and feminism in the way it was talked about during the workshop...I was familiar with the tendency for white women to only jump on board when it affected them, but I hadn't considered this a function of white privilege.”
